The Woman Campaign
The ACO Woman Campaign uses the voice of women to generate awareness and raises fund to promote cancer prevention, early diagnosis prompt and effective treatment among women in Africa and an African woman anywhere. It connects the medical and health professionals, industries, development partners, funding and government agencies, cancer survivors, academics and other fraternal organizations with similar mandate with the general public towards crafting and executing innovative cancer-related events through The Woman Campaign. It involves women from the general public as a fundamental political and economic group to systematically change cancer policies and programs to reflect the changing needs of women and communities. The Campaign promotes cancer control programs sponsorship and partnership, brands visibility drives, using the media and renowned high-profile personalities as voices for women against cancer. All these activities ultimately prevent women from developing cancer or detecting cancers at an early stage where treatment is usually effective and cure often possible.
The ultimate goal the Campaign is to promote multifocal prevention for women. Thus, a woman visiting a health facility has a bouquet of awareness and screening intervention in cervical, breast, colo-rectal, infections, vaccination and lifestyle cancer control. These strategies to prevent cancers also inadvertedly reduce a woman’s risk of other Non-Communicable Diseases including cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Early detection and effective treatment are both essential to improving cancer outcomes and these screening programs are linked to timely and effective treatment.
