My Story

Haneen Abdullah is a dynamic and accomplished Biotechnology and Biomolecular Chemistry graduate from Cairo University, Egypt, whose academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing women's health through science and innovation. With a specialization in molecular biology, bioinformatics, immunology, and neuroscience, she has cultivated a multidisciplinary approach to research that bridges laboratory precision with real-world impact.

Haneen also serves as a Chemist and Quality Control Officer at one of Egypt’s leading institution for breast cancer care. She plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic procedures. Her work involves meticulous sample analysis, instrument calibration, and adherence to rigorous quality standards, directly contributing to the early detection and treatment of breast cancer in women. This hands-on experience in a clinical setting has deepened her understanding of the intersection between biotechnology and patient care, reinforcing her dedication to translational research that benefits women’s lives.

Beyond her technical expertise, Haneen has demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy. As Vice Head of the Scientific and Technological Committee at Cairo University’s Student Union, she organized educational initiatives, scientific forums, and outreach programs that empowered young women in STEM. Her ability to mobilize peers and foster inclusive scientific dialogue underscores her commitment to equity and representation in science.

Since the beginning of her journey in the biotechnology field, she has been inspired not only by the science itself but also by the process of sharing experience and knowledge and guiding others to discover its potential. This which makes her the ideal choice to be one of the TA volunteers in her college. She volunteered as a teaching assistant in the Plant Biotechnology and Biotechnology Lab I courses, assisting in material preparation and guiding students through sessions.

Haneen is a passionate scientist who wants to dive into the field of scientific research and explore how it is changing the world through real-world practical applications. Her research portfolio is equally impressive. Haneen’s graduation project explored the antiulcerative efficacy of chitosan-based hydrogels as a gastroretentive drug delivery system—an innovative approach to improving therapeutic outcomes. She has also authored a review article on the potential of mesenchymal stem cells and microRNAs in treating Parkinson’s disease, reflecting her interest in neurodegenerative disorders and regenerative medicine. Her co-authored publication on solid-phase synthesis using microwave and ultrasound irradiation further showcases her versatility and scientific rigor.

Haneen’s contributions have earned international recognition, including a bronze medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, a gold medal and special award at the World Inventions and Innovations Technology Expo (WINTEX) in Bali, and a silver medal at the iCAN competition. These accolades affirm her capacity to translate scientific ideas into impactful innovations.

Fluent in Arabic and proficient in English, Haneen brings a global perspective and strong communication skills to the ACO Woman Campaign. Her blend of laboratory excellence, research innovation, and community leadership makes her an invaluable team member. She embodies the campaign’s mission to elevate women’s voices in science, promote health equity, and inspire the next generation of female scientists across Africa and beyond.
